Unfortunately there is no NHS for pets, all private veterinary practices are funded
by the fees that you pay. Prices have to be set at a reasonable level in order
to maintain a good standard of medical and surgical facilities. We try to keep
our prices as affordable as possible, in order to do this, we ask that payment
is made at the time of treatment. We are often able to arrange help with treatment
and neutering fees for those who need it.
Long illnesses or conditions that require sophisticated treatment can become
expensive. We therefore strongly recommend that you insure your pet against
expenses incurred through accident or illness. Please contact the surgery for
details.
We stock Hills Science Plan dog and cat foods backed by professional dietary
advice. We also stock a wide range of other petcare products including flea
products for the house and pet, shampoos, worming treatments and pet carriers.
Our experienced nursing staff can advise you, our training and experience
qualifies us to give advice on all aspects of pet care.
We have our own laboratory, so most blood tests are done within the practice.
Most laboratory results can therefore be available within one hour, speeding
diagnosis and treatment. Where necessary we run blood tests to check the
health of animals before giving anaesthetics. We are also able to offer
a geriatric screen as part of a health check on older animals, this enables
us to detect illnesses in the early stages, improving the chances of treatment.
Please ask for details if you are interested.
We believe in preventing disease where possible. To this end we advise neutering
of all cats, all bitches and of some male dogs. All dogs and cats should be
vaccinated and receive annual boosters - we send free reminders.
If you require veterinary attention outside normal surgery hours, telephone the
surgery. A recorded message will give you the telephone number of the duty vet.
A vet is available 24 hours a day every day.
